Is it rare these days to see a bald eagle in Wisconsin? I know that their population has markedly increased with conservation efforts, but I can’t recall ever seeing one before. Perhaps I have, I have a vague memory of seeing one while fishing as a kid. I certainly never observed one in the wild for as long as I did the last couple of days.
Friday just after noon I sat on my balcony and noticed this on the power pole nearby. I couldn’t tell that it was an eagle for sure at first.

At 12:40 the light was better for filming. I caught a crow (?) flying over the eagle and seeming to warn other birds of it’s presence.
When I left the eagle was still perched right there. When I returned it had gone.
Later in the evening we spotted the eagle once again out our window and decided to walk to the power pole it was on. Clearly we can see the white plumage, confirming that it is a bald eagle.

While on a walk the next day we stumbled onto it once again. This time, not from our apartment window, but in a nearby park.
And from a different angle.
I wonder if it was all the same eagle. I wonder how far it travels and whether it will continue to live near me. I’ll keep looking out for them.
